Statement of Relevance
The Wilton site on Teeside in UK is the location of one of SABIC Europe’s three petrochemical production sites (also Geleen in the Netherlands and Gelsenkirchen in Germany), producing polyethylenes, polypropylenes, and chemicals and intermediates. The chemical manufacturing business operates a world-scale cracker at Wilton with capacities of 865 ktpa ethylene/ 400 ktpa propylene/ 100 ktpa butadiene.
SABIC owns and operates substantial logistical facilities at Wilton and North Tees, including major storage capacity, a cross-country pipelines network, and substantial distribution and shipping services.
Description of Services
Energy and Power were contracted to provide multi discipline engineering including pipeline and HDD expertise from FEED through to construction and installation of a new section of the Trans Pennine Ethylene Pipeline (TPEP), providing project selection and project execution services.
Energy and Power scope included development of the FEED design report and generation of the project schedule and cost estimates. We were also responsible for the preparation of the ITT for both Construction and Design companies, and contract preparation for the scope of works. Our role extended to negotiation with the Construction and Design Companies, review of their proposals and recommendation for the selection process with SABIC’s pipeline division. On site, we provided project management during surveys and studies, supervision of the design phase and eventual construction management, in addition to the testing and drying activities, HDD installation and commissioning, reinstatement works and project close out.
