Energy and Power were employed by BHP Billiton to provide project and technical support for the development of the Pilbara LNG project.
The scope of work included offshore and onshore LNG aspects as well the development of an alternative all-electric LNG option.
Description of services
Energy and Power’s scope commenced with a review of the pre-FEED design, followed by preparation of the Project Quality Manual and updating of the Basis of Design and generation of the FEED Scope of Work and Deliverables List. Our LNG expertise was utilized by the Client in provision of Technical Support and Due Diligence as part of the option selection process.
The scope also included the study of an all-electric alternative to gas turbine driven refrigeration compressors. The study estimated the impact on costs and plant availability to calculate the overall effect on plant economics. The all-electric option also included the impact of the power generation facilities including sparing and the option of combined cycle generation sets with lower emissions which was considered critical for the EIA.
