OMV – Nafoora Oil Field Development

Location

Libya

Type of Service

Conceptual Design and Facilities Evaluation

Statement of Relevance

OMV planned to increase production from the current rate of about 60,000 BOPD (100,000 BFPD) to 165,000 BOPD (400,000 BFPD). The concept was to develop new areas, by drilling more wells in existing production horizons and by increasing water injection for pressure maintenance.

Description of Services

The Energy and Power study scope included a technical HSE and operational survey, followed by multi-discipline concept design for development of four new GOSP facilities and refurbishment and improvement of 11 existing GOSP facilities.

The assignment required a full audit of facilities, environmental baseline, management, operating and maintenance regimes and subsequently to engineer and plan any potential entrance by the partner into the field.

The study was undertaken in two parts: firstly a field audit addressing the facilities design and state of repair together with the management systems. Subsequently a multi-discipline conceptual design was undertaken on a GOSP by GOSP basis, including well sites, gathering systems and pipelines. The objective of the work was to increase production rates of the GOSP and introduction of new production areas.

Management system planning included the production of plans for implementation of new operating and maintenance regimes, the implementation of improved safety culture and a safety management system.
