Caithness Petroleum have awarded Energy and Power a small contract to review and make an independent assessment of the technical design, procurement and construction progress of the Lybster project which was stopped in late 2008 when the results of exploration drilling did not come in as planned. Work had been undertaken on the facilities design, the procurement of strategic equipment items and the prefabrication of new equipment of new equipment and skids. A new 2010 drilling regime is currently underway and Caithness may wish to resurrect the project should the new exploration well confirm significant reserves and production capability. As part of the re-assessment of the project, Energy and Power will undertake a facilities technical review and develop forward execution plans, budgets and schedules for the completion of the project.

VTTI Cyprus Oil Terminal

VTTI is planning to build an oil product terminal and a jetty facility in the industrial area of Vasilikos in Cyprus. The project is set for completion in 2012 with investment exceeding €100M. The Vasilikos facility will provide 340 cubic meters of storage for gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and fuel oil. Energy and Power was asked to produce 3D models and artistic impression of the facility to enable VTTI to present the new proposal to the local government and press. VTTI plans were presented by Vitol CEO and Managing Director in the presence of Finance Minister.The work carried out by Energy and Power was later published on the front page of major Cypriot newspapers.Over the past few months Energy and Power have developed strong relationship with VTTI. Energy and Power will continue to support VTTI with their oil, gas and LNG projects in and outside

Europe.

Energy and Power is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Aberdeen. This Energy and Power office joins our long established operations in London, South Wales and Hong Kong. Our services offered to the Aberdeen market will comprise engineering and consulting activities in field development, for North Sea and overseas assets.

Given our current market-leading position in the provision of Project Management and Management Services to oil companies, we intend working with our current client base to pursue global Project Management opportunities, applying our well established management systems and structure to assist in optimising our clients’ capital projects.

Remarking on this new prospect, Peter Streets, Energy and Power Business Development Director stated, “This is an exciting opportunity to support our clients’ as they progress developments through into execution. Recent world events have forced the industry to re-evaluate their portfolios so it is ever more important that projects are properly controlled and managed”.

Company Chairman

David Rayburn will be leaving his post as Chairman of Energy and Power owing to his growing personal commitments. David has been a significant source of knowledge and wisdom over the past few years and has been a greatly valued member of the company management team. UK/Norwegian Mentoring Programme

Energy and Power has enrolled onto the third UK/Norway Cross-Border Business to Business Mentoring Programme, sponsored and managed by DECC and INTSOK (Norwegian Oil and Gas Partners). The aim of this 12 month programme is to match Mentors from Oil Operators and Contractors in the UK and Norway to small to medium sized enterprises (SME’s) in the opposing country to improve cross-border export opportunities, share knowledge and provide a valuable insight into business practices and cultures in the two countries. Energy and Power as a UK mentee has been paired with Sevan Marine as our Norwegian mentor: a world-class manufacturer of floating oil production and power generation facilities.

First Anniversary Baglan

Energy & Power celebrates the first anniversary of the opening of its office at Baglan, in South Wales. During a hugely successful first year, the office has grown to a staff of 25, mirroring the engineering and consultancy skills of the established London office but focussing on work in the downstream oil & gas, and renewable & sustainable energy markets. Clients won during the first year have included the Carbon Trust, Bord Gais Eireann, Dragon LNG, British Salt and energy sector multi-nationals E.On, Centrica Storage and Sempra Pipelines.

Formation of Proteus LNG

The Energy & Power Group has added a new company with the formation of Proteus LNG. The company will concentrate on the further development and commercial exploitation of its unique mid-range LNG liquefaction process, which has at its core Gas Consult’s patented use of a turbo-expander. As well as established markets in flare gas and stranded field development, mid-range LNG is a significant component in the exploitation of coal mine and coal bed methane, coal bed gasification, landfill gas use and methane produced from anaerobic digestion and pyrolysis. Energy & Power, of course, has significant expertise in the process engineering and management of projects in all these areas, which it will continue to pursue separately from the new company.

Expansion in London

by opening an additional office, in Newman Street, a short distance from our existing Macklin Street office which is retained. The continued expansion is required to service an increasing workload on projects that continue to be won worldwide. The office expansion allows for the planned increase in staff to about 70 in London.

New Hong Kong Office

All of Energy & Power’s existing consultancy services are available from the office, being supplemented initially with engineering and consultancy support from the UK offices. Energy & Power has been appointed to the Carbon Trust’s Marine Energy Accelerator

Under the appointment, Energy & power can be allocated to provide its offshore, marine and subsea expertise to assist and support marine energy developers in taking their technology to commercial deployment. Our first appointment under the framework is to work with DNV in supporting AWS Ocean Technology Limited, which is developing its Archimedes Wave Swing Technology.
